Data We Collect
Thistlegate does not use advertising networks, social media trackers, or third-party analytics platforms. The following data may be collected:
- Contact form submissions: name, email address, phone number, and message content submitted through the contact form on the homepage. This data is used solely to respond to the submission and is not shared with third parties.
- Server access logs: IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages accessed are stored in standard web server logs for up to 30 days for security monitoring purposes.
- Cookie consent preference: a local storage entry records whether you have accepted or rejected cookies. This entry does not leave your browser.
Cookies
This website does not set third-party cookies. A single first-party local storage entry (thistlegate_cookie_consent) records your cookie consent choice. This entry is stored in your browser only and is not transmitted to any server. You may clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
Legal Basis for Processing
Contact form data is processed on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given at the time of submission. Server access logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for security monitoring.
Data Retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are permanently deleted. Server access logs are retained for 30 days. No other personal data is stored.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@thistlegate.eu. Requests are responded to within 30 days.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali) at garanteprivacy.it.

Thistlegate contains links to external resources including GBIF, IUCN, Plants of the World Online, and Wikimedia Commons. These sites have their own privacy policies; Thistlegate does not control and is not responsible for their data practices.
